Review by hotel critic
During my recent stay at Klostergarden Bed & Breakfast on Tautra Island, I was captivated by its unique blend of history and natural beauty, as it rests in the heart of the Trondheimsfjord. The family-run establishment not only offers a charming welcome drink upon arrival but also hosts an onsite restaurant that turns locally-sourced ingredients into delightful meals—something that resonated deeply with my affinity for regional cuisine. The charming atmosphere was complemented by the opportunity to purchase their own award-winning beers from the farm shop, which provided a truly authentic taste of the area. Though the shared bathroom facilities might not suit everyone's taste, the cozy armchair in my room offered a comfortable spot for unwinding after each day's exploration. With bird watching opportunities just an arm's length away and the island's historic monastery enriching the experience, Klostergarden offers not just accommodation, but a glimpse into the local heritage. I navigated easily with my friends during our ventures, appreciating the short distance from the mainland and the chance to experience a slice of Danish culture while enjoying the tranquility of rural life.
